Cloning Faults

Applies to: Standard Fault and Resolution Fault

Cloning a fault allows you to quickly add faults that are similar to ones already in the system by creating a copy of existing faults or even whole branches of the fault tree.

How to clone a fault

A. Prepare to clone

To start, you need to select destination fault tree (e.g. playground tree), where you can edit cloned faults safely, or live tree, in case you need to merge your changes.

  1. To start, select Administration > Faults & Failures Trees from the top navigation menu

  2. Select Train class, service mode into which you want the data to be cloned

  3. Once the tree is loaded you are ready to clone into a fault or a category.

B. Select destination

1. Collapse the trees by clicking the collapse all button (1). This will help to hide irrelevant information.

2. Click on the checkbox against the desired fault or category you want to clone into (2).

Info: Top level nodes (items you see when the tree is collapsed) are always categories.

3. Click Insert tree at the bottom options bar (3). A dialog will appear, proceed to section C.

C. Select source

It is time to select the fault or category you want to clone. Provided you followed the guide in step B, you should see a clone dialog pop up.

Example of a clone dialog

1. Select source train and service mode (1).

2. Collapse the tree by click on collapse all tree button (2).

3. Select the fault or category you want to clone (3).

Info: If you select a category, all of its children will be cloned into destination. If you select a fault, the fault and all of its children will be cloned into destination.

4. Click Clone (4)

5. Wait for the process to finish. Once it is finished, a Clone Report will appear(see below).

Clone reports

A clone report is an overview of all items that were cloned in the fault cloning process, this includes any associated items that were also cloned in the process.

1. Optionally, remove any items you do not wish to have been cloned by using delete button (1). 2. Click Finish (2).
