Internal Links

Applies to: Standard Fault and Resolution Step

Internal links represent references to other faults or their steps in the system. The referenced faults or steps can be from other category or train.

Add an internal link

Creating link

1.On a fault edit page, click Add (1) associated object, a dialog will appear.

2. In the dialog, Select InternalLink (1) as Associated Object Type , and provide a Title (2). Title is used when displaying internal link in the body text.

3. Set or skip "Show As Button" option (3), Display Position (4), Button Text (5).

InternalLinks can be shown as button (they will be displayed at the bottom options bar when a user navigates to the fault). One of the examples where Show As Button is usually used is to direct user in one or another direction (e.g. "Yes" or "No" buttons, where depending on answer user will either be directed to another fault tree in the system or continue with the current).

Use Display position to control the order of the buttons (e.g. have consistent "Yes" button on the left, "No" on the right side)

Use Button Text to control the text of the buttons (e.g. "Yes" / "No" / "Custom" buttons)

4. Choose Train Class and service mode (6).

Service mode "Rules and Regs" is always present and will load Rules and Regulations tree regardless of the selected train class.

5. Click either Load With Steps or Load Without Steps button (7). Load With Steps will enable you to create internal links to specific steps in a Resolution fault (similar to Step associated object type).

Once the tree loads, you can use expand all or collapse all buttons (8) to easily find desired fault.

6. Select wanted fault or step (9) and click Save (10)

Inserting link in body text

Sometimes you want an internal link to be displayed in body text: 1. Click link button (1) 2. Confirm the link has been added to the body text (2)

To delete internal link from the body text, just select the link in the body text (2), press delete or backspace and Save the fault.

Edit an internal link

Sometimes you want to update existing link so that it now points to another/new fault (e.g. you have cloned a child fault, changed it and cloned it back, see Live edits learning path)

To update an internal link: 1. Click Edit (1) button, a dialog will appear

2. Edit link information (1). Please refer to creating internal link for fields information. 3. Click Save (2)

4. Optionally, update body text (1) to reflect new Title. 5. Click Save (2)

Remove an internal link

To remove an internal link in fault please follow the steps below: 1. Remove the link in the body text (1). You can do it by selecting the link (e.g. [L ID=61769]Link to another fault[/L]) and pressing backspace or delete keys.

If you cannot find any references of the link in the body text, it is probably shown as a button. Before removing it, confirm it is either replaced by another link or is no longer needed.

2. Click Delete button for associated InternalLink (2) 3. Confirm removal (3) 4. Click Save (4) to save body text changes.
